American Safety Insurance Holdings, Ltd.

American Safety Insurance Holdings, Ltd. has appointed Mark W. Haushill as CFO. He joined American Safety Insurance with more than 23 years’ progressive experience in finance, capital management, financial reporting, financial planning, treasury and corporate development. He has significant working knowledge of insurance financial processes and controls, as well as financial systems and financial process improvements. Before joining American Safety Insurance, Mr. Haushill spent more than eight years as the CFO and Treasurer for Argonaut Group Inc, the predecessor to Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd.


Guy Carpenter & Company

Henry Keeling

After many years of service at XL Capital Ltd, Henry Keeling, has been appointed President & CEO of International Operations of Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC. Mr. Keeling chairs Guy Carpenter’s International Board and is responsible for its operations in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Asia Pacific, Australia and Bermuda. He is also responsible for all marine and energy, aviation and retrocession businesses globally.

Iron-Starr Excess Agency Limited

Eric Kittleson and Mark Hill have joined Iron-Starr Excess Agency Limited’s Excess Casualty operation in Bermuda. The agency is a joint venture between Ironshore Inc. and C. V. Starr & Co., Inc. Mr. Kittleson has been named senior vice president and excess casualty manager and Mark Hill as vice President. Mr. Kittleson was an 11-year AIG veteran, most recently serving as underwriting manager for AIG Cat Excess Liability Company in Bermuda, where he was responsible for the company’s portfolio of occurrence, occurrence reported and claimsmade accounts for complex corporate risks. Mr. Hill had been the Casualty Manager for Lexington Insurance Company in Bermuda.


Torus Insurance Holdings

Torus Insurance Holdings has appointed Tim Mardon as chief underwriting officer of Torus Re, reporting to Torus chief executive Clive Tobin.

Before joining Torus, Mr. Mardon, who has 22 years of insurance experience, was chief underwriting officer of Citadel’s Reinsurance operations, CIG Re and New Castle Re. He joined Torus in early 2009 as part of a transaction which involved Torus acquiring the staff of New Castle Re. He began his career in London where he worked as a pricing actuary for Zurich Re and Terra Nova before moving to Bermuda in 1996 to work for ACE Tempest Re in property cat and specialty underwriting.


Maiden Holdings, Ltd.

John Marshaleck has been appointed as CFO of Maiden Holdings, Ltd. He has a 26-year history with Maiden and GMAC RE and had served as COO of Maiden Holdings since January 2009. Mr. Marshaleck had also served as President and CFO of GMAC Re, Maiden Re’s predecessor. Michael Tait has been appointed Chief Accounting Officer of Maiden Holdings and CFO of Maiden Insurance in Bermuda.


Lancashire Holdings Limited Group

Neil McConachie has been appointed to the position of President of the Lancashire Holdings Limited Group. He will continue in his role as Group CFO and will co-ordinate the executive team, strengthening the Group’s executive in Bermuda. Mr. McConachie has been with Lancashire since its founding in 2005.


Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd.

Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd. has made three executive appointments. Bernhard H. Scheifele has been appointed CRO, and Michael Fusco has been named chief Actuary. Both report to Argo Group’s CFO Jay Bullock.

Mr. Scheifele joined Argo Group after more than 16 years with Munich Reinsurance Company. As head of divisional planning and control for North America, he was responsible for capital management, strategic and annual planning analysis and enterprise risk management.

Mr. Fusco came to Argo Group from Navigant Consulting, Inc., where he performed actuarial consulting and due diligence services. He has 39 years of insurance industry experience, including eight years at CNA where he served as chief actuary.

Kevin D. Silva has been appointed senior vice president of human resources, reporting to Argo Group President and Chief Executive Officer Mark E. Watson III. Mr. Silva is responsible for managing the company’s global HR function and will focus on executive recruitment, employee development, benefits and staffing. He joined the Argo Group after 13 years with MBIA Insurance Corporation, where he served as chief administrative officer.


Hiscox Ltd

Hiscox Ltd has appointed two healthcare underwriters to Hiscox Bermuda. Ian Thompson, Senior Vice President - Healthcare, and Nick Williamson, Vice President - Healthcare, have joined Hiscox to build a portfolio of healthcare liability business, complementing existing business written by Hiscox in London and the USA. Both joined Hiscox from Endurance Specialty Insurance Ltd. The new team is focused on providing tailored coverage for larger, well-run health institutions.


Validus Reinsurance Ltd.

Conan M. Ward has been appointed CEO of Validus Reinsurance Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Validus Holdings, Ltd. Kean D. Driscoll has been appointed CUO of Validus Re. Mr. Ward has served as EVP and CUO of Validus Re since January 2006.

Mr. Driscoll previously served as Executive Vice President of Validus Re responsible for the North American property catastrophe reinsurance business. He has been with the firm since it was formed in December 2005.

Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, Ltd

Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, Ltd has appointed Barbara T. Alexander to its Board. She has more than 35 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Ms. Alexander has been an independent consultant since January 2004. Prior to that, she was a Senior Advisor to UBS Warburg LLC and predecessor firms from October 1999 to January 2004, and Managing Director of the North American Construction and Furnishings Group in the Corporate Finance Department of UBS from 1992 to October 1999.


American Safety Insurance Holdings, Ltd.

American Safety Insurance Holdings, Ltd. has appointed Marilyn V. Hirsch to serve on its Board of Directors and on the Finance Committee of the Board. Ms. Hirsch’s appointment fills the vacancy on the Board created by the departure from the Board of Frank Lackner. Ms. Hirsch joins American Safety Insurance Holdings, Ltd. with more than 20 years of experience with international finance and acquisitions and she has extensive capital markets experience and insurance sector expertise.


The Argus Group

Sheila Nicol

The Argus Group has elected Bermudian Sheila Nicoll as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Argus Group Holdings Limited, the parent company of the insurance group. In addition, Peter Burnim and James Jardine have been elected to the Board of Directors. Ms. Nicoll succeeded Dr. James King as Chairman. Dr. King retired in July, having reached the mandatory retirement age. Ms. Nicoll is also the Chairman of the principal property and casualty subsidiary company, Argus Insurance Company Limited, where she has been a Director since 2004. She is a Senior Vice President of White Mountains Insurance Group Limited, where she is responsible for operations. Ms. Nicoll is a past President of the Bermuda Insurance Institute and serves on the Insurance Advisory Committee.


AXIS Capital Holdings Limited

The Board of AXIS Capital Holdings Limited has appointed Thomas C. Ramey and Wilhelm Zeller to its Board as independent directors. Both will serve as Class II Directors. Mr. Ramey was Chairman and President of Liberty International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Liberty Mutual Group, from 1997 to 2009. He is currently a Trustee of the Brookings Institution and a Director of The Warranty Group, the International Insurance Society and the Coalition of Service Industries.
